The Bible
We believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God. The notion of inspiration is not born from the subjective imagination of man, but is stated from within the pages of the Bible itself…
2 Tim 3:16-17 "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (NIV)
The Bible was originally written in the Greek language. “God-breathed” is the literal translation of the Greek word theopnuestos. Inspiration then, in the biblical sense, isn’t the contrivance of the human mind, the biblical record is not the whim of the writer, the writer is simply the medium through which God speaks. Thus, the role of the writer is to merely record what God wanted written.
Our Response
Since the Bible is the inspired Word of God, the revelation of Himself and how He expects His children to live, we seek to pattern our lives according to its instruction.
Jesus
We believe Jesus to be everything the Bible teaches Him to be: The Son of God and our hope for Salvation. We believe that He calls us to follow Him, according to his example.
Heb 4:14-16 "Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." (NIV)
We believe that He is the Savior of all who call upon Him.
Phil 3:20 "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ." (NIV)
That His death on the cross was the means by which God would forgive us our sins.
Col 1:19-20 "For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through Him to reconcile Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross." (NIV)
That He will take all who have believed in Him and obeyed His commandments to spend eternity with Him in heaven.
1 Thes 4:16-17 "For the Lord himself will come down from Heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever." (NIV)
That He will one day come again to end all things.
2 Pet 3:10 "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare." (NIV)
We believe what the Bible says regarding being saved: Believing in Jesus as the Son of God
John 20:31 "But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." (NIV)
Immersion in water for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit
Acts 2:38 "Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (NIV)
Living thereafter in the grace of God following the teachings of His Son, Jesus
Col. 2:6-7 "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." (NIV)
